John Pomeroy and John Poole left Warminster on the first day of their Albion Adventure ( Around The Coast ), they left Warminster Civic Centre at 0900am on 26th May after a short "send off ceremony " by the Mayor and members of the media and many members of Warminster Branch Royal British Legion.
They made their first stop at Poole as arranged and met more members Royal British Legion members ( Poole Branch ) , they then got as far as Chichester when disaster struck , an unexpected noise from the lovingly cared for engine !! the noise which was serious enough to warrant stopping the vehicle is thought to be " white metal bearing damage on the big end " , this dreaded noise is the last thing any enthuisast wishes to hear , so the decision was taken to abort the trip to prevent massive damage to the already very old and treasured classic vehicle. John Pomeroy was very thankful to a friend Mr Malcolm Millard of North Baddesley/Romsey who had set the breakdown cover on the basis it would probably not be needed.
John Pomeroy reflected on the old Albion drivers adage "You can hurt an Albion but you cant break it " and both he and John Poole informed their families of the unexpected and unlucky turn of events, and eventually were recovered back to Upper Marsh Rd Warminster late evening on Sat 26th May by Boarhunt Recovery & Haulage Services (www.boarhunt.co.uk).

After much discussion that afternoon & evening with families they decided to use another classic vehicle to continue the Fund Raising Adventure and called a Mr Graham Mears from Wells/Somerset, who part owned with John Pomeroy a 1951 Austin Devon ( A40 Pick Up) reg NHY343 with a british racing green livery and cream logo of " Wells & Warminster ... M&P Garages ".
This vehicle was brought to Upper Marsh Rd in Warminster that very night and both John Poole & John Pomeroy set about preparing the vehicle for the long already eventful journey.
Both John's were eager to leave that night but common sense and families intervened and they left Warminster yet again at 0900hrs on Sunday 27th May to continue the task they had planned all year for , a 3700 mile round Britains Coast Line trip for charity !!
